Tier 2 (General)
The Tier 2 (General) visa category has replaced the UK work permit. To be eligible you will need to show that you have a licensed UK company who has offered you confirmed employment in the UK.
You will need to have a have a valid certificate of sponsorship for your job which pays you the appropriate salary for the role. The appropriate salary will need to be at least £30,000 but may be more depending on the role you are in.
You must have £945 in your bank account for 90 days before you apply. This is to prove you can support yourself. You don’t need to prove this if you have a fully approved (‘A-rated’) sponsor who can give you at least £945 to cover your costs for a month if you need it. Your sponsor must confirm this on the certificate of sponsorship.
You will also need to meet the English language requirement by passing an English test, having a degree taught in English or being a national of a majority English speaking country.
