Naturalisation (Citizenship)
Naturalisation is the final step in the process to becoming a British Citizen and to be granted this you will need to meet a set of requirements including residency and good character. You will also need to show you can meet the English language requirements as well as passing a Life in the UK test.
Once you have usually lived in the UK for five years and held permanent residency for 12 months you can apply for Naturalisation. English Requirement
You can meet the English language requirement by passing an English test, having a degree taught in English or being a national of a majority English speaking country.
